antique/vintage~TOP QUALITY USED CUSTOM CIVIL WAR STYLE BOWIE FIGHTING KNIFE~

Description

This auction is for a top quality rare antique/vintage used Custom Civil War style Bowie fighting knife, unmarked. This very well handmade knife is unlike any Bowie I have ever encountered with its particular dimensions and unique characteristics, it leads me to believe it was custom made and for all I know it could be anywhere from 50 to 150 years old. It has a unique handle with solid hardwood scales secured with 3 brass pins and a rounded pommel, the brass blade guard is secured with 2 brass pins and has a beveled extension, also unlike guards I have ever seen. The classic Bowie blade is very sharp, has a beveled full edge on both sides and is just beveled on one edge on the false blade back edge. It is also a full tang carbon steel blade that has seen some storage neglect showing some minor micro pitting blemishes but actually appears only lightly used, overall it is still in very good condition. It came with the other several Civil War Bowie knives I have up for auction in my other listings, all that I acquired at the same time and place. Please zoom in on all pictures for details. This knife measures 13 3/8" with an 8 5/8" blade and it weighs 11 oz.
